On April
6, 2009 The Board of Selectman vote to declare a
“State of Water Supply Conservation”, Phase I
effective from May 1, 2009 to November 1, 2009.
This action is necessary to conform to the
requirements of Town’s Water Management Act
Permit issued by the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts, Department of Environmental
Protection. Our permit specifies performance
standards for residential gallons per capita day
(RGPCD) to be 65 gallons or less. Although our
current (2008) RGPCD is reported as 70.8 we have
a conditional waiver from MassDEP from their
special condition restriction of only allowing
outside use to 2 days per week. If we do not
meet the 65 RGPCD for 2009 we will need to
enforce a minimum of Phase II next year.
